Caramel, a ~6 year old rescue dog, and her Dad created this list of pet-friendly cafes and restaurants and rated them based on their experience.

You've probably heard of these places being hailed as "pet friendly" before. But, how friendly is pet friendly? Caramel and her Dad set out to rate their experience at these 30 cafes and restaurants in Bangalore - and here's what they found out:

#1 | Pet People Cafe, HSR: 5 /5

Caramel sniffed the scene out at The Pet People Cafe - and approved.

1. Pet People Cafe, HSR - 5/5. Very pet-friendly staff, good decor, a pet menu, dogs running around, and a good date place (can get chaotic on weekends). Human menu is veg and pricy, but good (loved their cheesecake). Parking is generally available. They close ~10 pm though.

#2 | Go Native, HSR: 4.5 / 5

Caramel approves Go Native as a good date place.

2. @gonative_in, HSR - 4.5/5. Staff comfortable with dogs, nice open-air terrace area, good to work out of (on weekdays). Human menu is veg & pricy, but good (try beetroot cutlets). A good date place. No parking, they close ~10 pm. Not sure if their other cafes are pet-friendly.

#3 | Green Theory, Convent Road: 5/5

Open-air seating, good food, and the staff loves dogs - what more could you want?

3. Green Theory, Convent rd (near MG rd) - 5/5. Very pet-friendly staff, open-air, a good date place (busy on weekends). Human menu is veg and good (love everything on the menu). Road parking generally available. They close ~11 pm. Indiranagar cafe is also nice, but not open air.

#4 | Blue Tokai Cafe, Koramangala: 4/5

4. @BlueTokaiCoffee, Koramangala - 4/5. Staff okay with dogs, open-air, a good cafe to work from (busy in the day). Decent coffee and cafe food. Road parking available in nearby streets. They close ~11 pm. Other BT cafes which are not open-air are not pet-friendly.

#5 | Claytopia, Koramangala: 3/5

Claytopia was okay for Caramel, but hooman didn't enjoy the food and drinks.

6. Reservoire, Koramangala - 3/5. Staff okay with dogs, open-air terrace (with retractable roof for rains!). Avg food, but a big cocktail and alcohol menu. Ideal for drinks, not food. Valet parking. They close ~12.30 am.

8. Terrabites, Koramangala - 3/5. Staff okay with dogs, very small pet-friendly area (2 tables), which is also a smoking area. Above avg food and coffee. Road parking available in nearby streets. They close ~10 pm.

#9 | Maverick and Farmer Coffee, Ulsoor: 4.5/5

Caramel had a fun time with the cafe owner and staff at Maverick and Farmer Coffee.

9. @farmer_maverick, Ulsoor - 4.5/5. Staff nice with dogs, big terrace for pets to run, decent food and kombuchas. Owner happy to entertain dogs. Good date place. Cafe faces a football turf. Only valet parking, self-parking is hard as not many options around. They close ~10 pm.

10. Urban Solace, Ulsoor - 3.5/5. Staff okay with dogs, veg food is okay, I've heard non-veg is better. They serve wine too. Road parking available in nearby streets. They close ~10 pm.

12. Courtyard, Shantinagar - 3/5. Staff okay with dogs, open air, avg food (used to be good before). Normally not too busy and not too many people, unless there's an event. The floor is artificial grass, so your pet may pee here. Parking available. Closes ~10 pm.

Caramel appreciated the friendly staff and open area at Happy Belly Bakes.

Great vibe, great (veg) food, and friendly staff - Caramel approves.

19. Smoor, Indiranagar - 3.5/5. Staff okay with dogs. Average food, but good hot chocolate. Heard good things about their dessert too, but too expensive to be worth it (for that price, I'd buy Godiva over smoor chocolates). Good for a date. No parking. Closes ~11 pm.

Hooman felt it was a little on the expensive side, but food and drinks are good.

21. Sante Spa, Indiranagar - 4/5. Staff nice with dogs. Pricy and veg, but good food, and good vegan options. Try their beetroot/spinach hummus and aglio olio. Good place for a date. Road parking available outside. Closes ~11 pm.

Good place to accompany hooman when they're looking for a cafe to work out of.

23. Lono, Indiranagar - 3/5. Good open air place with a bar. Average food, but good ambiance. Lots of dogs visit on weekends, weekdays are quiet. Parking available in nearby streets. Closes ~11 pm.

24. Toit, Indiranagar - 3.5/5. Great food and alcohol, pricy, but the pet friendly area is small, and is for smoking too. No pets allowed on weekends. Should try to go only in the day on weekdays to avoid crowds. Valet parking. Closes ~11 pm.

26. Chai Point, CMH Road - 3/5. Basic chai and snacks. Pets allowed only on the kerbside tables. Go only if you have a friend who can go in and order while you wait with your pet outside. Parking available in nearby streets. Closes ~10 pm.

Only one table for dogs? Caramel demands more!

27. Little Black Choux, Indiranagar - 3.5/5. Avg coffee, better food. Only one table outside which is pet friendly, but the cafe is mostly quiet, even on weekends. Go if you'd like a peaceful coffee. Try the pesto brioche. Parking available in nearby streets. Closes ~10 pm.

28. Infinitea, Indiranagar - 3.5/5. Overpriced and avg food, but good collection of teas from diff places. Go if you like a hot tea. The outside area is pet friendly, but not the most comfortable. Parking available in nearby streets. Closes ~10 pm.

29. Brik Oven, Indiranagar - 4/5. Great food, they also serve wine. Try the 4 cheese pizza. The outside area is pet friendly, but only 2 tables, so avoid on a weekend (the can be finicky about pets at times, so call beforehand). Parking available in nearby streets. Closes ~10 pm.

30. Eddy's, Indiranagar - 3/5. Small place, and normally quiet. Above avg food, small menu. Outside area is pet friendly, but the owner feeds Indies who stay in the vicinity, so go only if your pet is fine with that. Parking available in nearby streets. Closes ~10 pm.
