How to make healthy treats for dogs at home?

There is no denying that for a dog, food is the biggest motivator. Be it training him, calming him down, or appreciating him for being a good dog-  food works like magic.

Whenever we go food shopping for the dog, treats are always a must. What if we tell you that you can make healthy treats at home?  No, it will not be a huge task. In fact, it is the easiest one because your dog will not judge you for not using the correct ingredients or not getting the right taste.

Win, win! Right?

Here is how you can get started.

1. All you need is dog-suitable ingredients you have at home

You don’t have to visit the market to collect any particular thing for making a treat for your dog.  Whatever you have at your home and is appropriate to feed your dog can be mixed together to make a treat for him.

2. Select foods like chicken, carrot, oats, ragi, etc.

All the foods that your dog otherwise has in his meal can be used to make a treat.  Other options can be cooked rice,  eggs, potatoes, and curd, to name a few.

3. Blend the ingredients together

Whatever 2-3 foods you shortlist, blend them together.  You can also mold them in a certain shape. For eg., rolling them in a ball or flattening them as a cookie.

4. You can use pyramid mats or icing cones

Pyramid mats are basically baking mats in the shape of a pyramid.  If you don’t have them, you can also use baking mats or icing cones to cook the treat.

5. Keep them in an oven for 15 minutes

Once they are on the baking mat, put them in an oven for 15 minutes and that’s it. This way you can have a huge batch of treats ready in a short time. If you don’t have an oven, you can simply steam cook the vegetables.

6. Don’t use preservatives to make them last longer

Remember not to use preservatives in the treats since you don’t know how it will affect your dog.
